Sakarya University, a state university founded in 1992, has an institutional infrastructure based on the Sakarya University State Engineering and Architecture Academy dating back to the 1970s. The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, currently a part of the Faculty of Engineering, has been continuing its academic activities with scientific studies as well as educational activities since the 1980s.
